Development of an 85no. Bed Care Home to provide both standard and dementia care, arranged over 3 floors. In addition to the bedrooms the building will contain ancillary rooms such as Residents Lounges, Dining Areas, a Hair Salon and Quiet Rooms. Upon entering the care home there will be a single storey oak frame vestibule which will contain a through wall aquarium, providing a real wow factor for visitors and a focal point for the residents.
There is also a large basement on this scheme, containing the main working parts of the scheme like the Plant Room, Laundry, Kitchen, as well as Staff Areas. This will also contain a Gym and a Function Room where classes teaching dance lessons, yoga and cooking will be held. Due to the topography of the site, this function area will also have its own private terrace.
The building layout is arranged around an oak tree on the site, creating a cruciform plan. This provides 3 separate external gardens containing a mixture of hard and soft landscaped areas. Externally the building is reconstituted stone, light render and slate effect roof tiles, which is common throughout the West Yorkshire Area. The materials pallet are modernised with dark grey windows, fascias and soffits; as well as a glazed balcony area with views over the oak tree garden.
